microSteps, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading educational technology company that provides online solutions that enhance communications between teachers, faculty, parents and students. Two industry experts who also happen to be parents founded the company. They wanted to help schools improve their communication efforts by providing technology that would create a more interactive and engaging experience for school directors, parents and faculty. Towards this goal, the founders first hired a team of professionals comprised of educators familiar with the educational needs of children as well as technology experts and software engineers who could translate those needs into exciting user-friendly products.
The result is Activit-e, a customized and effective community information source for parents, teachers, school directors AND the students who bring them together. All of the content on an Activit-e site is overseen and approved by the school director, who also has control over adding or deleting members as they join or leave the school. microSteps also provides a comprehensive training program for each school staff and has an on going customer service department to answer any questions.

Activit-e is a full, simple to use, solution that enables school staff and parents to smoothly communicate as well as access all potential school items of interest from one spot. For example, parents are able to access school policy and event notices, newsletters, messages from the staff or other parents, as well as curriculum changes, photo galleries of pictures regularly taken during class and holiday gifts. Part of the proceeds from each photo or product purchase goes to the school.
Activit-e creates a community amongst the school’s parents, teachers, faculty, and the students and also helps parents to know about the day of their child, making after school dialogues that much easier. In addition to the educational materials posted by the school, the solution also offers an array of microSteps games that students and their parents can play together. The games change regularly and reflect the season or the holiday of the time period; all have educational value.
microSteps began sales in 2007. Today the company is servicing tens of thousands of registered users in the US. This number continues to grow daily. microSteps is also now expanding its reach to the European market. |
